Is the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 simply a bigger version of the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition? Yes and no. They certainly share a lot of DNA and have the same Exynos 5 Octa 1.9GHz CPU, 3 gigs of RAM, 2MP front and 8MP rear cameras, GPS, dual band WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0. They both come with Samsung's S Pen, a Wacom digital pen with pressure sensitivity. The have faux leather plastic backs in your choice of black or white. They have Super Clear LCD RGBW displays running at 2560 x 1600. So what's the difference?

Size! That's the big difference. Price is another. Neither are inexpensive tablets, but with the wealth of features they offer, I don't expect them to be cheap. The Note 10.1 2014 model with 32 gigs of storage is $599, though it's on sale at many outlets for $550 right now. The Note Pro 12.2 starts at $750 for the 32 gig model. For those who want 64 gigs of storage, the Note Pro 12.2 is available with 64 gigs for a scary $850. If you want to spend as little as possible, the 16 gig Note 10.1 2014 sells for $550 (on sale for $500 right now).

The Note Pro 12.2 has a 12.2" inch display vs. the 10.1" panel on the Note 10.1. Two inches is significant--just as 8 and 10 inch tablets are noticeably different in terms of portability and best suited use cases, the 10 and 12 inch tablets are noticeably different. The Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is a handful. At 1.65 lbs. it's not all that heavy, even by today's tablet standards, but it is big and less nimble than the Note 10.1 2014. At the same time, it affords a bigger view of your digital world and the added screen real estate is addictive, whether you're watching movies or editing spreadsheets. With the Note 10.1, you get two window multi-tasking, but with the Note Pro 12.2 you get 4 windows on screen at once.

The UI on Samsung's new Pro series tablets, called Magazine UX, is an evolved version of the hybrid Samsung TouchWiz + Flipboard on the Note 10.1. Honestly, you can do all the same stuff on the Note 10.1 2014, it just looks slicker and more tablet-centric on the Pro. More important to business users is Hancom Office bundled on the Pro tablets: it's simply to die for if you routinely use advanced functions when working with office documents. Hancom makes Polaris Office on the Note 10.1 2014 look like a tricycle compared to a Harley Davidson.
