The Motorola Photon 4G is Sprint's latest top tier Android smartphone. It runs Android OS 2.3.4 Gingerbread on a dual core Tegra 2 1GHz CPU. The Photon is both a world phone with GSM for roaming overseas and a WiMAX 4G phone. Reception is above average on Sprint's network for both 3G and 4G, though WiMAX coverage is still spotty and Sprint's 3G EV-DO Rev. A network is slower than the other three big US carriers.

Motorola Photon 4G

This a a large phone with a 4.3" qHD display. The display is very sharp and colorful, and looks better than Motorola's usual PenTile screen. Build quality is good, and the design is attractive and a little different thanks to the cut-off corners. The Moto has a VGA video chat camera and a rear 8 megapixel camera that takes OK but not wildly impressive photos, and it can shoot 720p video at 30 fps.

In terms of industrial design, display, reception and call quality, the Motorola Photon 4G is one of our top picks on Sprint for the summer/fall of 2011.
